Junior Skills Camp
Junior Skills Course
Is your teen looking for a challenge to raise his or her skill level and confidence on the water? This five day adventure includes two nights of camping on Gambier Island in Howe Sound along with Paddle Canada Basic Sea Kayak certification (a $225 value).
Our Junior Skills Course is open to girls and boys ages 12-14. No prior kayak experience is necessary. The first two days are spent learning the requisite kayak skills to obtain the Paddle Canada Basic Sea Kayak certification. Days 3 to 5 are spent honing those skills on a two night adventure to Gambier Island.
In addition to learning kayak skills, the course is designed to introduce participants to camp skills including setting up and taking down tents, a knots course, safety in the woods and camp cooking.
This camp is designed to build cooperation, judgment and decision-making skills. In addition, the participants will learn about the local heritage, geography, and marine ecology of Howe Sound and its environs.
Food, tents and kayak equipment is included for $585 (plus GST). Sleeping bags and thermarest matts are available to rent at an additional cost.
