Howe Sound Explorer
Bowen Island’s 32 km coastline is a tough challenge if what you really want is a leisurely, full-day adventure. Why not paddle half way around and get a lift back to Snug Cove when you’re ready to call it a day?
The northerly route (approx. 19km) departs from Snug Cove towards Gambier Island, around Cates Bay, over to Hutt Island and then south to picturesque Tunstall Bay. Occasionally, depending on wind and weather conditions, we may take the southerly route (approx 13km). The tour can be comfortably paddled in 6 hours with breaks. Along the way, we stop on a few beaches, have lunch, and observe an abundance of wildlife. Prior paddling experience is highly recommended because of changing conditions in Howe Sound.
