As we enter our 25th year of business we’re reflecting on all of the things that make our lives on this island and in this beautiful region possible. It’s undeniable that we rely on the health of the Howe Sound environment as paddlers, guides and residents. We enjoy speaking to our guests about the history and marine ecology of Howe Sound during our tours and we want to do more.

Throughout July and August 2021, we will donate to My Sea to Sky $2 from each paddler on a 3-hour tour and $4 from each paddler on a full-day tour.

Founded in 2014, My Sea to Sky is working to defend, protect and restore Átl’ḵa7tsem / Howe Sound. They are managing a number of campaigns to raise awareness of issues in the region including the Protect Howe Sound campaign.

Howe Sound is a place of wild beauty, right next door to the bustling city of Vancouver, B.C. After decades of recovery efforts and millions in taxpayer dollars, Howe Sound is coming back to life. The herring have returned, and with them, the salmon, dolphins, and whales have returned.

Howe Sound and its watersheds provides critical ecosystem services valued at $7.5 billion annually, including: food, clean water, a stable climate, protection from natural disasters, and a place to relax, recreate, and reconnect with nature. All of this is threatened by several heavy industrial projects proposed for Howe Sound, including Woodfibre LNG and its associated FortisBC pipeline, and the Burnco gravel mine.
