Capsize Recovery

Minimum number of participants

2

Knowing how to respond quickly and effectively in the event of capsize is a crucial skill for anyone who wants to develop his or her kayaking abilities.

In this class you will learn how to both self-rescue and perform an assisted rescue for your fellow paddler.

You will first perform a wet exit, which involves tipping your kayak, removing your spray skirt under water and then coming to the surface.

Next, working with other participants, you will take turns being rescued and learning how to rescue. Finally, you will learn how to use a paddle float to quickly re-enter your own kayak after capsizing.
